Nauvoo Trip!

We decided to head to Nauvoo for the weekend so we left Saturday morning. We did a session at the Nauvoo temple, it is by far the most beautiful temple I have seen (Remembering I have seen only Salt Lake, Bountiful, Palmyra and Nauvoo on the inside). I don't think that it will lose it's status anytime soon. We also watched the pageant which is not quite the to do that the Manti Pageant is but the story is fun and the setting is beautiful. We stayed at the Hotel Nauvoo and had the best custard at a shop called Annies. On Sunday we went to church with about 400 other people. Sacrament meeting was ENORMOUS. The Nauvoo ward is used to that because they had a separate table in the back gym area with more bread, and people to pass it. It was quick and efficient. After Sacrament meeting busloads of people left. We went around to all of the historical sights which are open on Sunday and run by all of the missionaries. There are all of the shops on Main Street and when you go into each one the missionaries show you how things were done back in the time when Joseph lived there. Many houses have been restored and one is still completely original. We learned how they made shoes and tin items and wagons and where the town hall is. It's fun. Then we went over to the buildings owned by the Community of Christ. We didn't do the tour because you have to pay for it. We will go back and do it. Those are the red brick store (We did go into that because it's run as a store. We got to go upstairs where the endowment was first revealed.), the Mansion House, the Homestead, ect.
We then drove to Carthage. That was a moving experience, we got to see the jail cells the prophet were in and the room he was killed in and even look out the window he fell from. It's definitely one trip I would say everyone has to do. We will go back again so if anyone wants to go just tell us.
