Macie! We got a big surprise today. Lexi and I went to a routine doctor appointment yesterday morning. Lexi's amniotic fluid was borderline low last week, so we had it checked again. The doctor said that the baby needed to come right away, rather than waiting until the 16th for the due date.
The issue was that Lexi wasn't dilated at all, nor was she having contractions. So, through a rather arduous process of becoming dilated and then beginning contractions, we started to make some process. Dilation took about 6 hours, from 5pm to 11pm. Then from 11pm last night until 8am today, Lexi was on pitocin to try to jumpstart the contractions. Our doctor came in to check on us at 8 am and said that everything had progressed properly and that we were ready to start pushing. 25 minutes later and here is our baby!

How can you help but love this face?
Macie is 7 lbs, 10 oz, 21 inches, and has some seriously long fingers.

This is Macie getting cleaned off. I got to help with this process. She loves to be touched. When we touch the side of her head, she almost always stops crying.

Here's the new mama with Macie. Macie likes to do the Popeye look - she opens one eye, but doesn't have the energy (or desire) to open the other.

We may have a future thumb sucker on our hands. She loves trying to shove those fists into her mouth.

They give out these little pink hats at the hospital. Mine doesn't fit very well.

She's been able to sleep for a few hours in the afternoon. She's also getting better at eating.
We're so excited for our little Macie. It's unreal to think that she's finally here. Life's about to change dramatically, but bring it on! We're grateful that mom and baby are both doing extremely well.

She couldn't be any more perfect. Seriously! Love her name! Lexi, you look super amazing! Congrats, you guys!
Ben & Lexi,
CONGRATULAIONS!!! She is beautiful! And what a fun surprise! My best advice: sleep when the baby sleeps. Honestly, nothing is as important! And, buy a baby sling--the simpler, the better. It will save your back and keep your baby happy!
She is beautiful. They both are. Congratulations! Yeah sleep when the baby sleeps at least for the first month! Well not you Ben :)
Wahoo! She is here!! Congratulations....she is perfect! :)

Gorgeous, as expected! Congratulations.
She's CUTE!! I wish I could hold her and cuddle her and hang out with her mom and dad more often. :) And Macie is such a cute name. I love it. More pictures! Love you guys. Congratulations on making a really cute baby.
Congratulations guys, glad everything went well! What a name! Original and so cute. Can we ask how you decided on Macie's name? Keith thinks Icelandic. It definately fits the daughter of a Benjammin! Good luck in the coming weeks. It's going to be tough but hang in there and work together!
Congratulations Jones Family.... It was great to get the email and update on your sweet babe. We are thrilled that everything went well and that she is healthy and strong. Hopefully we will see you soon!!
xoxo,
