We had a great visit from Skyler and Shannah last month and we loved it. We got to show them around the city and play games and walk walk walk walk. Our first day out we slept in a bit and then started getting ready. I was the first to get dressed and Shannah was showering at that time and when she came out this is what we saw
Great minds think alike. We stopped and looked at each other, and laughed. I did end up changing so that we didn't walk around the city looking like twinners but before that happened Ben and Skyler debated wearing almost matching outfits as well.
We walked all around and saw Navy Pier and the museums there for stained glass and one for. . . I think crime in Chicago through the last 100 years. That was Skyler's favorite. We also spent some time at the enormous Crate & Barrel on Michigan Ave. It has 4 floors full of wonder and we loved it!
This is a picture of the boys trying to make homemade peanut butter. It was a fun attempt that ended up with all sorts of new ingredients that you wouldn't expect. It was great bonding time for them and we laughed at it for 20 minutes. It was fun for Ben to have a guy around to make sense of all he was saying and to do guy stuff with. Of course Shannah and I always love our time together, it's like slumber party central. We realized after moving away from Ithaca that slumber parties are awesome and we should have had them more often when we lived close. It's like spa time for the girls and business/law talk for the boys until we can't keep our eyes open anymore. The plan was for the Tanner's to stay until Sunday morning and then head out but Saturday night Shannah wasn't feeling well and Skyler came to church with us Sunday while she rested and then through much convincing we were able to talk them into staying for an extra day so that we could make up for lost sick time. It was a blast. We are very excited for the next trip with them. . . maybe a trip to Florida in February? I think that sounds great.
