Who says you don't get spring break when you're done with school? Due to a flexible vacation schedule and the fact that we still have some friends in school, we decided that spring break was in order. We went with Skyler and Shannah to North Carolina to spend a week at a beach house.
On the way in, we visited Ryan and Stacy Wallace. They are old friends of Lexi's (and new friends of mine). Ryan is in a Masters of Architecture program at NC State.
After visiting Ryan and Stacy, we drove down to the coast and stayed in a beach house for a whole week. This is not our beach house, but it was really pretty. This one was across the street from ours.
It rained for the first couple of days at the beach, so we took a day trip to an aquarium. Lexi touched the stingrays. She proceeded to invite me to do the same, thereby neglecting the "Ben-doesn't-touch-aquatic-life" clause she agreed to in our marriage contract. I was more than happy to watch from a distance.
Crab
CrabThe first belly picture. This is at about 9 weeks. As you can tell, there's not much there. The baby is about the size of a peanut. She hides it well!
We took a boat ride to Shacklefort Island. It's inhabited only by seashells and horses.
These are the mustangs that live on the island. They seemed pretty used to stupid tourists getting too close to them.
We build a sand castle. Well, we built a pile of sand with a sweet moat around it. I lost interest after we finished the moat. And, yes, that is a bridge on the left side where water, and man-eating alligators can pass through to maintain the security of the fort.
This is Ben and Shanae Lee. They were the other couple with us on the trip. Ben is in the Hotel School at Cornell. He started this past year, so we did not cross paths while we were there. And, yes, Shanae is pregnant, too. We really enjoyed getting to know them.
It seems that to go on this trip, guys had to be named Ben and girls had to be pregnant. I'm not sure how we got a Skyler in there....
Skyler and I
Prego vs. prego. (Lexi's belly is faked. The picture wouldn't be as good though otherwise)
