Now after traveling thousands of miles and uprooting our lives from one place to another, most people would be content to just kick back and relax, but my wife would not stand for living in a place with only gray walls, and, of course, I concurred. We went to Home Depot and picked out a nice shade of yellow paint to give our living room a little bit of flavor.
Here's the view from our living room window:
With that first coat of paint drying on the walls, we returned to O'Hare Airport (being the recent experts of the Blue Line of the CTA train grid) to pick up Lexi's little sister, Alli.
She came out to stay with us for a couple of weeks, so we had some good times experiencing Chicago.
We went to Giordano's. It's one of the main Chicago-style pizza joints here. It is absolutely amazing. When you come to Chicago you have to make sure to eat some of this pizza and you also have to have a Chicago-style hot dog.
We also went to the Taste of Chicago, which is a very touristy type of festival held downtown where many of the area restaurants come together and cook up some of their favorites. One of the more popular items was bbq turkey legs, as you can see here. It was a lot of fun to eat, mainly because every man enjoys eating meat right off the bone. However, the meat itself wasn't very tasty. But any time you get to eat a big drumstick and get barbecue sauce all over your face, it doesn't matter how the meat tastes.
We took a weekend trip to Nauvoo. It's about 5 hours away from Chicago. It was Alli's first time being there. Lexi and I went there last summer and we love going there. There are a lot of things to see and we never seem to have enough time to see it all.
We had a great time with Alli. Thanks for coming to visit us.
